Artists of Shelter Island

open their studios this August 21 - 22

Art on Shelter Island has a new name—ARTSI—a new logo and a great way to view art where it starts. The first annual ARTSI Open Studios event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22. There is no charge for admission, no ticketing…just the open studios of 18 Shelter Island resident members of ARTSI, all of whom are working artists representing a broad range of disciplines, ranging from painters who work in various styles, to photographers, printmakers, sculptors and ceramicists.

The ARTSI Open Studios event offers a unique opportunity to go behind the gallery scene, meet accomplished art professionals, and see their work in the place where it’s made. Artwork will be available for sale, and many of the artists also accept commissions. Participating artists include: Jackie Black, Hap Bowditch, Janet Culbertson, Roz Dimon, Victor Friedman, Jerry Glassberg, Katherine Hammond, Mary Larson, Kathryn Lynch, Diana Malcolmson, Bob Markell, Alexis Martino, Harald Olson, John Pagliaro, Kia Pederson, Olive Reich, June Shatken and Mike Zisser.

Studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for two days only, August 21 and 22 (Saturday and Sunday).

The August issue of “Local Art Rag”, available free at most stores and retailers on Shelter Island and the North and South Forks, will contain a complete studio listing as well as an easy-to-follow map showing their locations.
